Our Beginnings

Owner Sue Wong-Shackelford grew up in a household surrounded by the restaurant industry with both parents as chefs. Born in Hong Kong, Sue and her family came to the United States when she was young, growing up watching & assisting her parents and cooking all facets of different Asian flavors which helped her pursue her passion to do fusion and to open up Kalbi Taco Shack, a small place in South St. Louis with limited seating and now expanding to a larger space in the City Foundry in Midtown.

Our Mission

City Taco Shack combines unique Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese and Vietnamese flavors infused with well-known Mexican favorites! The result is an incredible fusion that proves that good tacos have no boundaries.

Our Promise

My husband Mark and our daughters, Olivia, Sierra and I are proud to say that we will continue to make all of our marinades, sauces, kimchi, slaws, pickled vegetables, salsas along with our special Vegan aioli sauce in house! We also hand cut all of our vegetables to ensure that we are providing the freshest, quality produce available.

We use top quality cuts of meat and hand trim our meats to be marinated for over 24 hours. 

We will also offer the best service possible!
